Spending New Year’s Eve in Turkey…

on 24/12/2014

Istiklal Caddesi, Istanbul

isn’t that a good idea? There are many alternatives to welcome the arrival of the new year under the best auspices.

For instance you can choose to spend it in Istanbul where you can celebrate until dawn, either on the shores of the Bosphorus, or in the hectic district of Beyoglu.

This will be an opportunity to visit several churches and their Christmas cribs in the city center, to discover Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque, not to mention Topkapi Palace and the Grand Bazaar.

However you can also travel further and visit Cappadocia, the only region of its kind in the world with its fairy chimneys which will give you the impression of being on another planet when they are covered in snow.

If you are more of a party person go to Antalya where the winter is very mild and agreeable, or to Bodrum on the Aegean coast where the climate is also rather pleasant for this time of year.

If you would rather opt for the fresh air of the mountains, I recommend Sagalassos. Located in the Taurus Mountains, this beautiful archaeological site will fascinate you and you will find there a comfortable hotel with swimming pool, sauna, fitness and a good restaurant to welcome 2015 in a pleasant way.
