Çiçek Pasaji (Flower Passage)

      The district of Beyoglu in Istanbul, which includes the famous Taksim and Galata areas, was called Pera in the past.

The name Pera, which means “north face uk  the other side” in Greek, was used from the Middle Ages until the establishement of the Republic of Turkey at the beginning of the 20th century.

Architecture enthusiasts will especially like some of the buildings situated on Istiklal Avenue, the pedestrian street that links Taksim Square to Tünel. The 19th century buildings display some interesting ornaments.

The Pera Passage, now called the north face jacket  Çiçek Pasaji (Flower Passage), is one of the most attractive places to see. It was built by a French architect for a Greek banker and is the replication of a Parisian theatre with refined decorations inside as well as outside.
